History of Bhikhiwind

From Sikh religion’s point of view Bhikhiwind town and also rest of Tarn Taran region is one of the historical as well as sacred regions. That’s because Tarn Taran region is founded by Shri Arjan Dev Ji, who was fifth Sikh Guru in Sikh religion. He founded this region by laying the foundation of Gurudwara Sri Darbar Sahib in Tarn Taran. This sacred gurudwara still exists in the very heart of the Tarn Taran town. From Bhikhiwind town this sacred gurudwara is not located very far away. Understandably people of Bhikhiwind town are very affectionately associated with this sacred Gurudwara, and do take part in many religious affairs.
